Highlights from the menu

Starters, Snacks, Raita, and Salads

Starters and Snacks are a good place to begin sampling the many flavors of Indian food - from moderately spiced chickpea-based starters to cottage cheese-based treats, as well as a host of other specialties.

Raita, Salads, and other side dishes are also an excellent addition to your meal. Yoghurt-based Raita and crisp salads cleanse the palate and provide a respite from a particularly hot curry; spicy sides are a fine accompaniment to a few drinks; plain Papads can be used to whet the appetite and to dip into and scoop up the other dishes in your order.

Food from the Tandoor oven

The clay 'Tandoor' oven is used to produce some of the highlights of Indian cuisine.

The slow heat of the clay oven allows the spices and marinade to sink deeply into the marinated food as it is cooked, giving these barbequed snacks a distinctive aroma and a truly wonderful taste.

Curries

Curry dishes are our specialty, and we've got more than 80 different preparations for you to try: chicken curries, lamb curries, seafood curries, vegetable curries, and egg curries. Vegetarians are in for a treat, with over 40 different vegetable curries to choose from.

We've chosen the best curries from many different Indian provinces, including many secret recipes mastered by our chefs and brought to Beijing for the benefit of our customers.

To make sure our dishes have the authentic taste, we import more than 50 different spices from India - the combination is sure to make you an Indian-food addict, if you're not already addicted!

Breads

We serve the full variety of Indian breads: Tandoor-cooked Naan and Kulcha breads; Homestyle chappati breads; and the deep fried Puris and Baturas. Indian bread is the natural choice to accompany a curry, and you’ll be able to use it to mop up all that tasty gravy!

Rice dishes

Different types of rice are used to different effect in Indian cooking. The most famous is the aromatic long-grained Basmati rice, used to add an extra subtle flavour to Biryanis and other preparations. Try the Saffron or Jeera rice as a side for your curry dish; for something special, order one of the Biryani rice dishes and enjoy the subtle taste. Biryani dishes are cooked risotto-style, with the spices and other ingredients added to the pot as the rice is boiling.

South Indian

Northern Indian cuisine is well-known all over the world, but the cooking of South India is also not to be missed. Influenced by the climate, the availability of different ingredients, and the fact that many people from Southern India are strictly vegetarian for religious reasons, Southern Indian cuisine has a very different taste to food from other parts of the country.

Highlights of the menu include the Dosa – a thin, crispy pancake that comes with a variety of fillings – Idli, chutney, soup, flavored lentil and rice dishes, as well as the special South Indian-style curries.

(Please note, the South Indian menu is available at Lido and Chaoyang branches.)

Desserts

A true Indian host will insist on a dessert before their guest leaves. We won’t force you to order a dessert - but just let us say that they are a good way to balance out a spicy meal, and extremely tasty as well!
