The South Indian menu is currently available only in our Sanlitun and CBD restaurants.
Northern Indian cuisine is well-known all over the world, but the cooking of southern India is also not to be missed. Influenced by the climate, the availability of different ingredients, and the fact that many people from southern India are strictly vegetarian for religious reasons, southern Indian cuisine has a very different taste to food from other parts of the India.
At Ganges, all meat served is halal.
Tomato Rassam
A traditional South Indian tomato soup with a great sour and spicy taste.
Idli Sambar
Two soft and fluffy steamed rice and lenti cakes, served soaked with yoghurt and sprinkled with spices.
Dosai
Dosai are a type of crispy crepe made, served with a variety of fillings and a special type of lentil curry called sambar. Click to see a larger photo of a Dosa.
Onion Uttapa
A grilled pancake made from a rice and lentil mixture, topped with chopped onions, served with sambar and chutney.
Lemon Rice

Mutton Ghassi Curry
Tender pieces of boneless mutton cooked in a curry with a combination of spices and grated coconut.
Vegetable Sukkha
Assorted vegetables cooked with grated coconut and selected spices. This dish is served 'dry,' no gravy.
Avial Vegetable
Assorted vegetables cooked in a combination of specially selected spices and grated coconut called 'avial' curry.
